Ancient Olympia Tour – 10 hours

We pick you up at your hotel (or any place of your choice) with our luxury vehicle.

Olympia has been the most glorious sanctuary of ancient Greece dedicated to Zeus. The original Olympic Games took place there as part of the ‘‘Olympia’’, the most important festival for the greater part of the ancient period in Greece. Other similar festivals were Pythian Games, held in honour of Apollo at Delphi, Isthmian Games, held in honour of Poseidon at the isthmus of Corinth and Nemean Games, held in honour of Zeus at his sanctuary in Nemea.

Τhe chryselephantine statue of Zeus in Olympia, located at the inside of the magnificent temple of the god and sculpted by Pheidias, was considered as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The Olympic Games began in 776 BC and were held every four years. Many buildings, mostly secular buildings, such as the Gymnasium and the Palaestra, were constructed during the Hellenistic period. The original buildings underwent transformations later in the Roman years. Τhermaes, luxurious dwellings and the aqueduct were also built.

Also, if you like, we can stop for a drink or meal at a selected restaurant (extra charge) and then we will return to pick-up point.
