Meteora – Kalambaka tour – 12 hours
We pick you up at your hotel (or any place of your choice) with our luxury vehicle.
Meteora is a complex of huge, dark-colored rocks of sandstone, rising from the ground outside of Kalambaka, near the hills of Pindos and Hassia. The monasteries of Meteora, built on top of rocks, are now the second most important monastic complex in Greece, after Mount Athos. Only six out of thirty monasteries that have historically existed are now operating, which are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1988.
The average altitude is 313 meters.
Studies show that the rocks were formed about 60 million years ago during the Paleogene Period. Εrosion and earthquakes over time led to today’s final form of the rocks.
Also, if you like, we can stop for a drink or meal at a selected restaurant (extra charge) and then we will return to pick-up point.
